buy GM!!! lmao really? ok when gas goes back up to $4-5 a gallon wat do u think is going to happen? capitalism = GM failed and there just isnt a car that anyone wants to buy from them...wat u guys are suggesting are expensive non practical cars..corvette, cts-v, etc ..I mean look at pontiac...failed...the failure of gm is due to the fact that they cannot make a small reliable car of any quality...thats why they have to change the name of the small car every generation because no one will them anymore...cobalt, cavalier, baretta, etc...and hybrids? wat hybrids...

Ford on the other hand is ok...my mom has a ford escape hybrid with 158,000 miles and still going strong..had some brake failure issues but they got resolved...they have been making the focus for a long time and they have the focus hybrid as well as a big international market

Amen! It's time for Americans to start trusting American car companies again and putting their hard earned money into American built cars.
I remember a few years ago the most "American" car you could buy was a Mazda 626...
X2. My Acura is mostly made in the US and it still runs like a champ. My accelerator gets stuck too, but by my own doing.

My bad. I meant to post this too in response to your MPG portion:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHXfV1p7KU8]YouTube - Chevy Total Confidence Malibu better then Honda, except for their Lawn Mower[/ame]

Not bad. Now, don't think I'm an all-out supporter of Chevy. I love their cars but I have a deep hatred for their trucks.

its funny you say that. all the effected cars are built here in the USA and the part that is suspect is made in Canada by a US company based in Indiana.

also a GM car, the Pontiac Vibe, is also part of the recall because it is made at a plant that is a GM/Toyota joint venture.

Ford is also recalling some commercial vehicles because they use accelerator parts made by the same US manufacturer that Toyota used.

thing is I doubt it's in the accelerator part. Many experts believe it's in the computer system controlling acceleration.

that whole parts made by the US supplier are bad is what Toyota said to try to pass blame, actually they recalled cars in Europe too and those don't have the American part, also the supplier said they have seen the car be revved up but the pedal was not stuck down, so I am also leaning towards a sensor or something in the pedal assembly, not the actual assembly. And it could also be the ECU, hard to tell without having inside info.

I agree that Toyota is trying to pass the buck to the supplier. They had better be careful on this one, if it even appears they are hding something it could be a long road to recover their good name.
