I'm not biting. Don't want a ticket want to be famous have a stuck gas pedal. Nobody inside the car prove it didn't happen Oh I can't make it do it again and famous in 3 min or less. GM stock is moving up if it was a Government Motors think you'd get the publicity doubt it. Sorry my trust level is on the ground floor and with good cause think about it.

i think this guys is tryin to make this problem bigger by doing that so he can get some benefits/$$$$... in that situation a normal person, would either turn off the ignition or put it in neutral and slowly applied the e-brake or all... i saw that video and his pic, he looks kinda shady to me... sorry, but i am not buying it.

Guys - I am convinced this guy is making it up.

    1) He is bankrupt and $700k in debt. That is not an average person - it's a desperate person. A desperate person may want to take advantage of the situation to stage a stunt, call ABC and get a payout. Jalopnik ran an article on this today.

    2) He did not seem like he was trying very hard to stop the car. He seems either stupid (which makes case for driver error) or disingenuous (case for he's making it up). e.g. he argued back against putting it in neutral. Also its nonsensical that the brakes can't over power a prius engine, and there are videos on youtube that show the prius brakes over power the engine at full throttle. Listen to his 911 call.

I expect more of this opportunism. If I was a poor guy struggling to make my rent and car payments, and if I had a Toyota, I would be seeing dollar signs right now too. We are going to see a fake unintended acceleration case every week as long as there is money to be made.

I know I heard folks say "I thought I was pressing on the brake" when they are on the throttle. At least that's what the lady said when she barreled her car into my aunt's home. And the neighbors that were out doing yard work heard the engine rev, tranny down shift and saw the car sped into her home instead of making the curve.

If some don't know the difference between a brake and throttle, they should stick to a Big-Wheel, but then again they would probably still mow down the kids.

Out of 4 vehicles, 2 are older Toyota's and those are the 2 vehicles I have not yet had an issue. I have 1 Mazda (wife SUV) that had 1 issue, and had 1 Honda that had 2 issues. The count for other past vehicles are much higher.

If I ever have to go visit the in-laws, I'd like to have one with a run-away issue so I can just fly on by and wave at them when I pass their place, maybe hold one hand up with the thumb to the ear and little finger to the lips - a gesture of "we'll call you".
