I went up to Chicago last weekend to do some custom engine tuning on a customer's vehicle.
This is what it looked like on the outside.

And this is what it looked like inside.
Its a 2000 Ford E-350 cargo van with a 7.3L Power Stroke diesel engine in it.
Twin turbos with a GTR47 feeding into a GTR38 and an air-to-water intercooler.
It's right at 600 HP / 1200 Ft/Lbs at the tires and should run low 12's in the 1/4 with slicks.
Yes, the owner is sick. He's also a builder and the back is full of tools. Had to put a 1030 lb pallet of bolts in the back to get the rear tires to hook up.
That's just wrong.![]()
thats insane!!! ive never seen piping that twisted!![]()
It must get a bit toasty in there during spirited driving![]()
It sure would suck to get into an accident or hit a bump and get thrown into that piping or your leg brush into it.
Is this a get away vehicle?
The vans always fool e with the engine access from the cabin.
!!!![]()
That looks like a real "sleeper".
I would hate to be in the cabin if anything on the engine blew...
It has a custom TIG welded aluminum dog house insulated with Thermo-Tec heat shielding so heat and noise aren't a problem, and at the low RPM's these engines run a turbo explosion is unheard of. Once in a while a shaft breaks, but that's it.
