    Default New Super Duty

Holy hell Ford's new super duty is rocking 400 HP and 800 TQ, and if you have the old one you can get it retuned for more power for free! Dude Ford is awesome.

Ford’s 2011 Super Duty upgraded, boasts 400 hp, 800 torque

Forget the percentage of U.S. drivers who have an RD, what percentage of americans actually need that type of vehicle?

Yes, I'd kill for one of these new Ford trucks. My Dad works for a construction type of company, and they are about to get a few of these new Super Duties I believe. It's great to see Ford back on top again. They've got their new Mustangs, which are arguably the best all around "pony" cars for the buck, while also having a top dog diesel truck. It'll be fun to see what Chevrolet and Dodge come out with in the future to compete with this new Super Duty.

Fully enclosed trailer that includes a "garage" for the race car + a full-sized "camper" section...

Ummmm so I'm gonna say like 0.01%.

    Another funny thing to note...

Ford and Chevy were all pumped up "WOOO WOOO LOOK AT US WE'RE BADASS WE HAVE THE BEST DIESEL ENGINE EVARRR WOOO!".

But from 2005 up until a few months ago, you know who had the diesel with the most horsepower AND torque?

Audi. Yeah, Audi. 500 horsepower, 740 ft-lbs torque. How embarrassing is THAT?

Even worse, Mercedes-Benz had them all beat...because they had the same torque, with even MORE horsepower (612)...on gasoline. Yes, that's right, since 2005 on, you could buy an S-class running on boring old 91-octane pump gas with more torque than Detroit's baddest diesel engine. I would have loved to find some way to attach a proper tow hitch to one of those and go humiliate the Ford boys pulling stumps.

So you try and call this truck stupid saying people cant afford it then offer alternatives that are more expensive and serve even less of a purpose? The people who buy these are either the ones who seriously love trucks or for the most part its people in construction or some other industry where they need to haul some heavy ass stuff.

The ford engine is a V8 and is NA, the audi actually produces less tq and is a V12 that is TT'd. The audi is also pointless compared to the super duty.

Oh look the mercedes engine is also a V12, and are you seriously using OMG GAS HAVE MORE HP arguement? of course it has more HP its a gas engine.

If these diesels were actually turboed they would kill mercedes engines and the audi one and they wouldnt have to run more expensive gas they could just run on diesel.

NA diesels haven't existed in the automotive world for years...

I'll still stick with the good ol' 12 valve cummins.

No, I never said that, and I can't even figure out how you could have read what I wrote and drawn that conclusion.

If anything, you might interpret upstatedoc's post as "calling this truck stupid", but I think that's childish and simplistic...he was just saying that very few people will ever have an opportunity to take advantage of this truck's capabilities.

And for the record, I think the truck is incredibly badass, and I want one. To tow a fully enclosed trailer including a garage for my race car AND a camper for me to sleep in. But most people would never do that, because they don't spend their weekends at racetracks.

I never "offered alternatives" to anything. I just found it amusing that the biggest, baddest diesels from Chevy, Dodge, and Ford (well, technically Chevy, Cummins, and Navistar, but whatever) all produced less torque (up until a few months ago) than a 5-year old Audi diesel and a 5-year old Mercedes gasoline engine.

It's turbocharged. All of the Ford diesel V8s have been turbocharged since 1994.

Was talking about all of the Ford diesels before the 6.7L Scorpion. The Audi produced more horsepower and torque 2005-2010.

Also has a smaller displacement. Just thought I'd mention. For fun.

Not talking about the Q7 and the Super Duty, I'm talking about the V12 TDI and the Powerstroke.

No, I'm using the "OMG GAS HAS MORE TORQUE THAN DIESEL WHAT THE FUUUUUCK?!?!?" argument/observation/head-scratching.

    They're all turbocharged.

i used to drive a 1992 f250 diesel non-turbo at work and that thing had no torque to pull the trailers when it got a little wet out that's why they put the turbos in them all. if i were to get a truck it would be the f150 raptor that thing is nasty

How many Americans need a car with 400 + HP?

    None.

But we want them that's why they build them.

I love my 530 HP car.
