Default Suggestions for All season type tire, FWD Acura in Texas "winters"

I have an 06 Acura RSX, which is front wheel drive. I am currently running Dunlop Star Specs, a summer only tire with a tread wear rating of 200. As anyone who lives in Texas knows, we dont really get much of a winter, just 3-4 days of possibly icy roads and many other cold wet days.

Anyone have suggestions for any tire that would be decent for Texas winters? I do not need a full snow tire, and the second the temps get above 60 for a steady time the star specs will go back on as they are AMAZING summer tires.
However I managed to get some serious wheel spin leaving a light under moderate throttle with temps only being in the 40s. I do not care about tread wear rating being high as these will only be used for 3, maybe 4 months a year, I just need a good DD tire for highway and local road driving during the colder months.

    Thanks!

I have heard good things about the Continental ExtremeContact DW and DWS. I haven't personally used them though.
