    Default AC clutch problem

Now that the weather is starting to warm up I thought it would be nice to try out the AC. Meh that didn't go over so good. The clutch squeaks and screech when it starts/stops. Any way to spray something in there to loosen it up? The clutch is a separate piece from the compressor.

I could work some lube around the belt. I got to change my trans fluid this weekend so I will be able to get at it easily.

The shops will rip me apart on a new compressor, clutch and recharge plus all the labor.(they're getting ready for summer after all) The belt is in a channel so it couldn't slip even if I soaked it in lube. Hmmm what to do...

Usually if its screeching its possibly the belt. If not, then its the compressor. The compressor can easily be changed if you have the right tools. YOu can't put oil in it or anything to stop the squeal. The bearings are probably all messed up in the compressor. If you are handy, change out the compressor. Then evacuate the r-13 to recreate the vacuum. Then recharge the system. Good luck!

Lightly spray the belt when it's squeaking. If the squeaking goes away, replace the belt. However, re-spraying the belt over and over to temporarily mask the problem will wear the belt out quicker.

If it's the kind of squealing I'm thinking, it's an old belt. Check your tensioner and put a new belt on there.
