I have known a couple of guys who had one many many years ago. Very expensive to repair/maintain.
Well it's a Porsche, so very expensive to keep on the road, but at the same time, picks up chicks and police as well.
It's also a Porsche 944, so they are relatively inexpensive to purchasebut also not really considered a "real" Porsche by the aficionados.
Don't expect a firecracker of a car even with the turbo...
Tony Montana wannabes on parole? :wink:Originally Posted by davekr
yep i realise this its either this or a mid 80's turbo dodge or a older vette.
Well the Mopar will be oh so much cheaper in every possible dimension. But Porsche 944 is far better car and more fun to drive.Originally Posted by the_Flash083
Vette though, that's a very good bang-for the buck car and you get more chicks and more power too. I'd try to find a '92 Vette 6-speed. Or did they still use the 4+3 then?
Insurance rates though, they're going to ream you like if you got locked up in the federal pen...

those mid 80's turbos are quick but by no means preaty.
I've always wanted a Omni GLH... or better yet I want to find a wrecked or rusty Daytona Turbo Z and put all of the bits into a 4-door Reliant175hp engine, 5-speed stick, Daytona suspension, Daytona brakes, and maybe Daytona rims or standard Reliant hubcaps... ooh that's stealthy...
heheheh yea thats what i am looking at getting i love these cars just because no one even knows what they are looking at.Originally Posted by SmaartAasSaabr
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought a popular mod was to stuff a Chevy SB 350cid (5.7L) V8 or 262cid (4.3L) V6 into the 944's? The latter being preferred because it kept closer to the original weight/balance.
And while I'm sure many a Porsche officiando would get their panties in a bunch at the thought of putting a Chevy motor in a Porsche, doing so would also give you access to a fair number of bolt-on HP modifications.
