HPD considered the front windshield an obstruction.

If "windshield = obstruction" then why didn't the leo ticket them for their car having a windshield? I could see if there was dark tint on the windshield because that would be an obstruction, but a regular TRANSPARENT windshield doesn't obstruct anyones view. Weird.

They principle behind the obstruction myth is the same as a plate cover. They don't want anything between the LIDAR gun and the plate. They even tried to get brazen enough to ban plate "frames" but that lasted about two weeks.

It all depends if HPD wants to pull you over or not. If they do they will. That's the point of my original post. In fact that's mostly the point of this hobby for me. To document exactly how the arm of the law behaves. Not how it works, should work or why it works. Just taking notes . . .

No problem. Regarding Erick's situation, I believe it is more then what you claim of documenting how the arm of the law behaves. If it was that way you wouldn't have a cr8apl8 on the front bumper of your car, you would just throw it in the windshield because 1) it's legal and 2) if you get pulled over, there's a documentation of it! I believe Erick is more interested in driving how he wants with as little interference from LEOs as possible, and I believe that that is actually what all of us want in the grand scheme of things. That is after all why we have countermeasures obviously. I think just some of us have differing opinions on just what exactly is a higher risk of having to talk to a police officer vs actually receiving a citation in how we use our countermeasures. To me, running a plate in the front windshield is a low-risk acceptable countermeasure that is both legal and increases the likelihood of giving you enough time to slow down during a lidar encounter, perhaps for erick it is a higher-risk of having an encounter regardless of weather or not you are speeding or actually breaking the law, and as such it is not an acceptable countermeasure simply for the fact he doesn't want to talk to the police, and or have to take time off to fight a citation. I think we all have differing opinions on what works for us, and sharing that information so that others can make an informed decision is what the boards are all about. To me, I have all the time in the world to fight a citation, and I would run my plate in the front windshield, but don't simply b/c I don't want to hear my wife whining about it. I could care less about being pulled over or being issued citations for any crime, I simply want to have a fair chance at being able to cruise at the speeds I wish with a small chance of an officer actually being able to obtain evidence against me for it. So running a front plate in the windshield to me is an acceptable low-risk countermeasure, perhaps for others it would be a nuissance having to educate LEOs, but I actually wouldn't mind, so long as I'm not convicted of anything.

Just wanted to say, I see more cops in Texas driving around in my parents hood than any other place I've ever lived. The colony got those real expensive tahoe's for their cruisers too
