Default LI test results on Escalade

install: 2 head front mid grill Laser Interceptor
    Escort 9500ix
    vehicle: Cadillac Escalade
    conditions: sunny and -24C
road: initial down hill grade medium curving to flat head on
distance: initial 1200 feet to gun
gun: as shwon...brand new never used
results: Extremely disappointing with almost constant readings.I operated the gun initially and for the first run I'd get jams then readings right from initial sight to gun on both center mass and headlights..jams..readings..jams..readings..second run readings even more so..Then my buddy operated the gun and I drove..the LI intiated on and off to the gun and he stated he also could get readings.
And another disappointment..the escort NEVER NOTIFIED LASER ONCE!!

Ok...one caveat..the LI heads are still not tweaked to absolute optimum positioning.

There you have it..we spent only a short time maybe 20 minutes with three runs but this install is certainly not stealthy at all.
I shall spend more time teaking the heads and get the gun back when the weather warms up somewhat..then report again

are those pointing straight ahead? it's hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like they are flush with the angle of the body.

They need to be parallel with the road, level and pointed straight ahead. A few degress out either way will make a very noticable difference. I also noticed that there was snow on the ground. Were the heads clean? A little film will cause problems also.

At our last testing event one of the guys was getting consistent 200-300' PT's. After leveling, and making sure they were pointed straight ahead it was JTG on everything.

The more I scrutinize them the more I question their adjustment but I can't get into it right now.
The front of the vehicle has such a radius I gotta build a straight edge tool to span the width and clear the nose piece and shim and level..I just didn't think they were that skewed..like what tolerance really is there..an 1/8th by x/y/z ?

    Murph,

Yes, the tolerances are very tight. Additionally, an install with a LD based Jammer is far more critical than with an LED based Jammer. If you extrapolate out that lack of level to say 1000 ft and then 2000 ft., the beams position might be off to the sky, down to the the ground and off to the side of the road or even cross-eyed in the other axis, effectively placing the LD beam's pattern nowhere near where is must effectively path, namely at the source of the LIDAR.

After a check for level and proper sighting down the road, you will see a dramatic difference in your test results. If not, I will offer you a replacement or a refund and buy you any Competitors Laser Countermeasures available on the market today you choose!
