As far as X band goes, we ran out of time but I can tell you that the V1 would be the hottest, followed by the 9500CI, STI R, STI Driver, followed by a 8500 S7, Vector 985 S7, followed by M4 based RD's, followed by Whistler then Cobra.

My burning question is would a V1 3.864 and a V1 3.872 perform identically if both had Ka guard on? Would the same be true if they both had Ka guard off?

How was the STI-R and 9500CI mounted? Mounted inside or outside of the vehicle?

Exactly. If the 3.872 is similar to the 3.864 in performance.......which was my experience......then that puts a whole new light on this 2009 test and the V1 is near the bottom of the list on Ka Band range!

Running the V1 with Ka guard off is simply not practical due to the crazy number of falses you will get on this band.

The V1 semi-scientific testing was all performed with Ka guard on.

Which is why me, happy, and other Pre-POP V1 junkies will push them like crazy. You actually can run with Ka guard off practically.

I know my v1 can't hang with the 9500ix on 35.5 which is what is ran locally by the city. I'm getting the feeling that V1 is falling a bit.

The other day I had a 35.5 constant on with the v1 with the cop in the median. I made a lap around took down the v1 (3.872) put up my v965. They alerted at the same spot.

Needless to say I was not impressed with the V1 although they both had good range on a rare flat spot constant on trap in TN.

Thanks for doing the test guys.

I am still keeping my v1 though. BUT, I am stiil running 3.826 version that we have tested at GOL a long time ago. I never upgraded because I heard stories. Now I am wondering if I should or should not upgrade. I didn't know they added a Ka guard on there. That ka guard would come in handy but not if it cost me performance.

I know that all windshields reduce radar sensitivity to a certain degree. Since these were designed with that waterproof case (which may degrade performance slightly compared to a standard sti case) to be mounted outside. Do you they exhibit better performance on the outside of the car?
