Thanks.
This has turned out to be a lot more involved than planned.
Well i just repeated some of the tests with E and F on the highway. Actually an open country road.
The good part is, that i got about twice the range here (5+ miles).
Of course this meant twice as much driving.
Now in reference to the above post, it seems that when E and F are both changed, it causes all loss of short range warning. With just F changed, it actually isn't quite as bad, but you still lose warning about 80% of the time. Definately not acceptable.
Another quirk i've noticed which is prolonging my testing is a constant inconsistency with the V1 on k band alerts in "L" mode. In the city with E and F changed, you can forget about early warning. On the highway it's a 50/50 crap shoot as to whether or not it will alert from several miles away. On close range i again got past the gun from a mile away before it would alert, and of course i was already clocked.
Now the biggest problem i'm having is with inconsistent runs. From 2 miles out it will sometimes alert every other 1/2 mile on instant on. I can even park 1.5 miles away and depending on the amount of times between 2 second bursts, sometimes it will alert and sometimes it won't. This is in "L" mode just to clarify. In "A" mode, it alerts fine with plenty of warning every time. I even got 3 miles of rear warning with instant on.
At this point i'm going to run the final tests and report it. then everyone can draw their own conclusions and decide what modes best for them.
I'm also adding 3 more highway tests. One with "E" changed and one with just "F" changed and one with both changed.
Also it seems that changing just "F" will cause the V1 to alert to ka instead of k at close range. This is with the tester and radar gun. If it does it on the highway test i'll let you know.
