Cool Looking to buy the v1

Well I didn't do my research at first and bought the cobra 9970g and it has done me good over the last few months but am looking to upgrade to the valentine or redline and was wondering if anyone could help me choose and find the best price...
    Thank you

Do you drive in the city or hwy? If hwy, then it narrows it down to both of them. REdline seems to be quicker on ka-band. You really can't go wrong with either. Redline is a $100 more.

I can't speak for the Redline because I've never used it, but seeing posts on this forum about screwed up Redlines is a pretty common thing, especially speaker problems. The V1 is a very nice detector, and I don't see any reason why someone wouldn't like it, other than the falsing in urban environments. They both have a money back guarantee test period of 30 days or so I believe, so you could always try both of them out, then weigh the pros and cons of each.

By the way, that Cobra isn't a bad detector at all. I've used a Whistler Pro, other Whistlers, and the Escort 8500 and the Cobra is evenly matched with them in in my area. Although I have a V1, I still use my 9960G pretty frequently.

If you plan on buying the V1, buy directly from the manufacturer. Stay away from used V1s.

I would recommend the V1 or Redline, both are great RD's, to find the one like best is to test drive both for a month and see which one you like better IMO.

    Good luck.

V1 all the way. I enjoy its arrows and the sensitivity has never been disappointing. Never.

Get the V1. I am currently using my Redline in the vehicle I'm borrowing since mine was totaled a few weeks ago. It is more silent than the V1, but I also do not know where the signal is coming from. That is much more helpful than anything else. Also, the V1 is more reactive than my Redline. V1 had better Ka 35.5 than the Redline but the Redline is better at K. I know I need to send in my V1 due to some other issues at the moment, but that will be taken care of in a few months when I can afford a new car.

Man, talk about coin flipping! I've been on the side debating which horse to choose (V1 vs. RL) but the forum opinions are all over the place. As a reminder, I run the interstate between Yuma/Phoenix/San Diego. As an update, all those AZ roadside and SUV cams are now gone! The state contract ended and the cameras were pulled. Still, I was just telling my GF that I should have purchased a RD before going to San Diego yesterday and sure enough; someone in my group got nailed by a cluster of portable roadside cams just before the border patrol check point. I don't think it was me but it could have been. I say this because the flash seem to go off a bit to soon as another car was ahead of me and to my left. Still, I'll cross my fingers for the next 2-weeks.

I suppose if I were to read between the lines and political correctness, it appears the V1 arrows are valued more than any other single RD attribute, aside from a $2k ci variant. Is this a fair assessment with respect to a 'favorite' detector?

    Regards,
