Default Awesome Heads Up. Yeah, there are still good drivers left out there.

I was driving home from an IHOP, and I had no warning on my RADAR detector (8500 x50 S7 Red), but I knew where cops like to hide and park from past experience. They wait with their RADAR off and usually shoot sloppy I/O, so I usually get a blip here or there letting me know something is in the area.

As I approached this area, a motorist on the other side of the divided roadway (2 lanes in each direction 40 mph limit... artificial) flashed his lights off, on, off, on twice, so I suspected the police. Anyway, there was a white Dodge charger with all his lights off in a private parking lot facing onto the road just waiting to I/O a speeder... Freaken A**H**

Anyway, I was fine and would have probably been okay anyway due to past experience, but I thought it was really cool of this driver to warn motorists. As I passed this area I entered a left turn-lane and saw a wolfpack of cars approaching, so I dimmed my headlights twice to signal the on-coming cars. Hope someone else was as happy as I was that night.

I will ALWAYS dim my lights to signal other drivers because I am tired of this sneaky hiding fluff they do. I know this officer saw me dim my lights twice too, but he didn't do anything about it... should he have acted, I would have taken it to court demanding a jury trial.

Too bad I don't know who this observant, other driver is who signaled me. If I met him in public... dinner and beers would be on me for the service he is rendering the public... nice to know there are good people out there.

Why would the officer pull you over for signalling to another driver?

I usually flash other cars once I pass where the Leo is hiding for at least half. I do not however help anyone out before i see the Leo and only know he's there from my radar detectors. I paid too much to give free handouts like that and don't want to give away I have detectors.

I flashed my headlights about a week ago and when I did I thought im getting busted because the cop saw me flash my lights but ahead my 8500 X50 gave me a warning again so I turned on my lights and left them on and another cop was coming down the road. Off the subject here sorry but last week I took a 12 hour round trip and my 8500 warned me every time I love it at one time my dad was with me he's 85 he was freaked out how good my 8500 is and how far the cop was.

Since we're on headlight flashing stories...

A few days ago I was driving through a relatively well known speed trap. I passed it and one of their officers was running speed enforcement. There were two cars approaching me, with the first one being a pickup truck going about PSL+20. I flashed my headlights at them a few time...and, well, the driver of the pickup didn't care.

Anyone can guess what happened next... I do these people a favor all the time and they are too oblivious to notice.

last week I flashed my lights at a car that was going around a bend into a school zone, and he flipped me off?! He was at least 15+km over and I just passed the LEO so I know how that ended up for him..

I wonder if he realized as he was being pulled over what I meant when I flashed my lights... idiot...

I find city drivers are far less likely to warn you than country / highway drivers are... that's my experience anyway.

I have not seen someone flash their lights because of a LEO in years. It is nice to hear there are still some courteous drivers out there.
