Fake Police Lights

^^ thats funny ive had a run in with those a few years ago..
bastard kept lighting me up because i was going over the psl .. except not in the left lane.. in that case it was police impersonation
i should've thrown some change out the window, maybe that would've bust out his flashing headlights
in that case i just ignored him and kept on my way.. im sure your smart enough not to do something as stupid as police impersonation

LOL. Why did you put that thought in my head?! I always have change in my car and now I know what to do with my pennies. Be careful with the change. I know of one guy that way getting a little impatient behind a guy that was going way below the PSL on a one lane highway. The slow driver actually threw a handful of ball bearings out his sunroof at the pickup that was tailgating him a bit. When they got to the stop light the guy in the pickup got a baseball bat out and went to town on his car and then pulled the guy out of the car and beat the crap out of him too. Yeah, he over reacted to the ball bearings but nobody had much sympathy for the guy who threw the bearings either!

Wow, I can't believe some of the posts in this thread.

While it's lame and too dim for most people to see, the blinking light apps will get you ticketed or arrested if you use them on the road. Regardless of how slow the guy in front of you is driving. ILLEGAL, period. I know of a lot of cops who would really get a kick out of writing that ticket, too... after the felony stop (you know, hands over your head, lay on the ground, try on these shiny bracelets).

And using flashing lights on your vehicle without authorization is illegal, too. White wig-wags, red, blue LEDS, doesn't matter. You know those "authorized vehicles only" signs for highway u-turns? If you're not one of those people, you're probably not allowed to use those lights. They can and usually will charge you with impersonating a police officer if that's what you're trying to do. And can even impound your car depending on their mood.

That varies from state to state. In CA it is a $25 Fix-it ticket for the following violation: "25252.5 - Unauthorized use of flashing emergency headlamps." If anyone has any info to the contrary for CA, please post source. I misspoke when I said in an earlier post that they were not illegal.

Naturally, depending on what you are doing at the time, it could be a bigger deal. For example, if you were trying to pull someone over with them I could see them tagging a few other charges. However, having flashing high beams as you are driving down the freeway is simply a fix it ticket subject to your attitude at the time of the encounter.

You can look up CA fines here. Just remember that the fines are much higher that what is posted after you add all the BS fees.

It doesn't take a lot of bright at night...years ago when my best friend was a kid, he was coming home from the circus. Well they have those stupid toys that you play with and they light up. Well his was blue and red. And he was in the front seat. And his mother was driving a white Caprice Classic back when they were common police vehicles in our area. They were on the road and he started playing with it and immediately the car in front of them pulled over. I am not making this up.
