where to mount my detector??????????

i have a little dilemma here with my x50, where should i mount it at......either just under my rear view mirror.........or in the upper left hand corner just under my tint strip............. i had a problem over the last summer with the heat getting to it and it caused me to send it up to escort to get ir repaired or something with the antenna, and i moved to the left corner and had it there for a while.....but i have been recently leaving it in my center consil so it doesn get too hot.. just looking for some advice onto where is the ideal place for it..... because both places have great reception......just sometimes it gets in the way.......... thanks

I'd mount here and when it get's hot take it out of your car!

i drive a '97 Dodge Intrepid ES for now, but come like around december i plan on getting a Dodge Caliber SRT-4 and thats when i plan on doing a hard wire set up........ yes i left it on the mount all the time, but like say maybe a month ago i started taking the detector and the mount down but now i am leaving the mount up cuz i dont want the suction cups to lose there uh... suckiness????... there really is no room in my car to mount it above the windshield because of the tint strip

but i have to run the smartcord some where cuz i dont want to do a hardwire in this car as i will have it for a short amount of time... now when i get my srt-4 thats where i will do it like the pictures above

Hmmm hardwiring takes me about ten minutes, not exactly a long time! If your using a SC then just mount low for now! :?

Nope very simple remove the one you orig. installed and transfer it over!

I would't even splice I would just run it to your fuse panel, the black wire needs to be grounded and the red 12v wire needs a 12v volts source! If you don't know much about wiring I wouldn't try to splice I would ground the black wire and run the red to an accessorie location in the fuse box (most vehicles have a running light location that is empty)!

Crimp one of these on the red power wire just make sure you get the correct size!


And then just plug it in very simple!

As you can see I have two red power wires running too two different locations! One is for the x50 and the other is for the zr3 jammer!

Why did you hardwire to the fuse box Hole if the Zr3 has a port for the X50
