hits with laser on my x50

Hey all was driving in my town today with my new x50 and got hit with laser twice from the rear of a patrol car same spot same source what the hell??? Doesn't make sense to me since laser has to be stationary which the Leo was but was facing oposite direction and this area is promanant radar never had a laser encounter untill now but my area did recently get a grant for county police not state. confused here.... and the other thing is laser can not be shot through glass and it has to be stable and both officers where still in the patrol car so im lost no other officers where seen around?? And when i went back to make sure i was all legal because i kept going back and forth past them to try and figure out the source when i got back they where gone and so was the laser source so it had to be the Leo not a false because the source was comming from the Leo's vehicle confused as to how this could be unless maybe he had been using a laser gun and left it on but then it can't go through glass like radar and the odds of it hitting me would be extremly rare since laser has such a tight beam?? confused if somebody could explain because i am lost here and i know quite a bit about this stuff so far.... anyhow post away if you have an answer...

No body can answer my question i guess so far.. See so im not just lost in outerspace it doesn't make sense logiclly unless the Leo was just using his gun inappropiatly as he may be new to it or something and think he can use it like a radar gun ??? and didn't read the user manual hmm sounds familar huh??

Laser (Lidar) can be shot through glass with modern guns. It reduces the range somewhat though.

Could you see the LEOs in the cruiser? Was one of them turned around facing the rear with a laser gun?

ya but i don't think they where turned around but i couldn't tell .. sh#t that means we got laser coming into play here dang it to h#ll !! that sucks!! these dudes don't need anymore grants i swear the next person that gives these guys grants i wana slaughter em you know... rediculous i could only pick him up like maybe 200ft away and it was a typical laser burst like 10 13 sec or so... this sucks i can't wait to get my blinder m40 and m20 extreme now i have more motivation to get them!!

Did the cruiser have it's emergency lights on? Some of them will set of laser alerts.

Yes very bright lights will set off LASER.

A couple of times the light given off by welders in construction zones has set off laser on my passport. Also, ambulances have set it off before when they have their lights on. A couple of times, I've gotten the flash of sunlight set it off as well.

Ya the crusier had his strobes going crazy along with the typical michigan state trooper big wo wo light buble light on top strobes in the head lamps the full shabang that is possible i forgot laser is only light beams but a certain wave length of light beam though so im still confused and power/intensity of light so still confused but i guess if you say it happens it might cause i don't think we have laser around here at all.. least not that i know of but the alert was the typical laser alert how does this explain that then wouldn't the alert be shorter or shortened due to the odds of this happening im sure it would only be like a short burst of light in that possible wave length and intensity... not saying that i couldn't have happened cause it was dark and his lights where going crazy!!

This is way better than instant on radar. I was to shocked when i saw my town had some ultra-lyte around. I was pissed but then i realized you can jam Laser and its leagal, radar on the other hand can leave you with a hefty ticket. Invest in a laser jammer and veil and youll be set.....

A little punctuation would go a long way here...in short, like compu44 mentioned, the emergency lights can set off the laser alert. My X50 will go off in relatively close proximity like you mentioned. According to the manual, it will alert to 904nm (33 Mhz bandwidth). So any light source with sufficient intensity (exact amount is not mentioned) at that specturm will set it off...

Hey alpinestars. It sounds like I need to take my Kustom Prolaser 2 laser speed gun out and test that Escort X50's laser for you. Let me know when you will be on my side of the state. Every detector has different detection. I will say that the laser detection on my V1 is awesome! I had a laser false today out by the airport w/ my 795. Not too much laser used around here (only once in a while) but go down to Kalamazoo and Battle Creek, they have a lot of laser down there.
