Default Original 8500? Need your help fast

I have the original 8500 and i need to know if i need to send it in a get it updated. Version 5 when i hold all the buttons. Check this out i have a radar gun because i am a baseball pitcher and it can be used as a police radar it is X Band and my old 20 dollars cobra would pick it up with ease down my street. Turned on the 8500 and nothing on HIGHWAY Mode i pulled up beside it still nothing? What do i do. and i did buy it off of EBAY
When i leave the car closed and the detector in there and it is very hot service required comes on

Yeah, it needs to be sent in. Service required means just that - service is required. It has drifted out of tune due to the heat and will no longer detect some frequencies. Send it in to Escort and they will re-tune it and update to version 11 for $50.

so everytime it gets hot it will do that? and i will have to send it in? How long does it take for them to fix it? Someone told me that they can update the software to match the X50 hard to believe but is that possible?

The software can't be updated to that of the X50 since the hardware is different.

Heat won't cause Service Required to come up every time, but leaving the detector in the heat over a long period will cause it to happen. Chances are that's why it was sold on ebay.

Escort will have it back out within a few days from the time they recieve it.

Any cosmetic damage will likely still be there, they might replace thr front lense, might not, but otherwise, it should be like new.

The last software version for an original 8500(not X50) is version 15.

Thanks for the update. Last I heard anything about was 11. I'm about to go mad trying to find a good laser jammer, so I haven't been reading as much on the RDs.
