    Default Is this a 8500 or 8500 x50

    <SORRY NO DETECTOR ADS ALLOWED! - JIMBONZZZ>

The guy said he would sell it to me for $150 so I thought it was a good deal however don't the x50's all say "X50" on the actual detector? Would this still be a good deal even if it was a regualr 8500?

    Thanks,
    Eric

1st off that is definately NOT an X50 thats a 8500 original, I've heard that theres not too much of a difference and that the original gets better Ka-band reception than the X50, and yes the X50 does say X50 on the top of the unit.

150 doesnt sound too bad for that detectorit'll serve you quite well i think

    thats an 8500 with SWS

on the X50 instead of SWS its POP

X50 is suppose to be slighly better in detection and it has POP

and it will say X50 on top of the detector

so do you guys think that its worth it for $150...i could possibly talk him down to $125

also, how can I get it updated to the latest version of software that was released with that 8500.

Ok i have to decide whether to buy it or not....

    1. Is it a good deal for $125- Barely Used Escort 8500 (original)
    2. How does it compare to the other top detectors?
    3. How can I upgrade it to the most current software version?

    Thank you,
    Eric

Can not upgrade it, but it is a pretty good buy.

Check out the 8500's preformance vs the other top dogs here

    ok then...

    1) it's like f399 said, he got his for 100 but 125-150 isnt too bad

    2)
vs. X50 + RX65: It's basically the same thing except with a few less features i.e. POP (almost useless depending on where you live), but I heard itts better than the X50 in Ka

vs. V1: I wont deny it, the V1 dominates my X50 in Laser and Rear radar reception, front radar is about the same, but if youre looking at a $125 unit this $400 unit is probably more than you're willing to spend

    3) Honestly I dont know... I've never had to deal with that before

All in all the final decision rests with you, I can sit here all day telling you what this unit can or cant do, but you're buying it not me, so is this really an investment you want to make, sure in my opinion at $125 you dodge just 1 ticket and it's paid for itself (I swear my X50 has saved me atleast $1500 by now), spend the money or dont, I think you should buy the thing , but thats just me
