You can program the detector to show the volatge coming from your alternator. Go to Program, by pressing both buttons at the same time ontop of the unit, it will take you to program mode and you can scroll to "Pilot V" this mode will show the volatage. My experience has been the detector will sound the Lasar alarm when it spikes.
But I'll have to say, that really doesn't help me solve the problem at all, just points me in a particular area.
Mine will work fine somedays and other days it will screw up like you said everytime I step on the gas. I eventually unplug the thing, leave it off for a day and plug it back in hoping that it corrected itself.
I think what's interesting is that we both have Jeeps, and apparently we both have put batteries in our cars recently. I agree it seems as though there is something defective with the unit. They should make good on the unit, but you know how that is. Its all about money. I have one of the original passports that is probably 20 years old that works great still. I bought this one specifically for the lasar technology, now with this problem i feel like i have stepped back twenty years and tossed $300 out the window. What ever happened to customer satisfaction? I run a business and I stand behind my product so I get good word of mouth for a job well done. But like I said, it's all about money today, not business in the future. So I just keep trying to figure out what the problem is. I will keep trying, and if I figure something out I will let you know. Then maybe their tech department can solve the problems people are having with there unit, cause they apparently have no idea. Their fix is replace a part they claim has gone bad, and charge you for it. 20 years and no problem verses 2 years and big problem, equals decrease in quanlityThey know it and should do something about it. What do you do, grin and bear it in today's world. Not happy about it, but apparently it doesn't do any good to complain.
