    Default X50 - False Laser - 2006 Accord

All - I have heard that a noisy electrical system can cause the X50 to generate false laser alerts.

Sometimes when I honk my horn or wash my windshield, or use my wipers while it's raining, I get false alerts.

It seems like the windshield washing and wipers while raining could be explained away as being optical (the light bouncing off is confusing the unit), but the only explanation I can think of for the horn is a noisy electrical system.

Is there any way I can tell if this is the case, and if it is, is there a way to filter this noise out?

X50s do this a good bit. I heard it was a capacitor that they did not use that they should have. Maybe there is a way to add one.

I have had a problem of the X-50 falsing laser a couple of times. When the problem starts, it is just occasionally. Then after awhile, it would start falsing non-stop pretty much. Both times it has happened, I sent it in to escort and they fixed it. I would call them first to see what they think.

ive had my X50 for a year, and my "Accord" HAs never done anything like that to me, only had 2 laser falses, one in a random parking lot after I stopped and even turned off the car..................and another from some idiot's brake lights.......other than that, Ive had only 3 other verifiable Laser hits

I've noticed mounting position has alot to do with Laser falsing. When my detector (X50) was mounted Low, I never recieved falses. Now since I have moved it up below the mirror, I get random falses on certain things such as anything with a spinning Emergency Light. This can be day or night.

Ex. Police, Ambulance, or Fire truck

I could see your point if we had strong laser usage around my area. The laser falses doesn't really bother me all that much and it only happens once in a blue moon. We do have 3 laser units ( Pro Laser III ) in Charlotte but they are all photo laser Vans and I have yet to be hit by one or even see one for that matter. Charlotte and the surrounding areas main speed enforcement tool is radar. They mostly use K and KA. They do still have X but it's hardly used. I figured with laser not being to much of a threat around my area, I would go high and maximize Radar performance. When Laser takes off and begins to become their main focus, I will just get a Jammer. I've noticed to much of a difference with the high mount to move it back down. You are right though, moving it down would decrease the false alerts.
