I got red because my tax return from uncle sam was only 290 and I didnt have enough change on me to spring for the extra 50 bucks for blue. I have no problems with the red, it is a little dim in sunlight but I have never had a problem with it washing out, but I drive a pickup with the detector mounted high in the shade of the tint and dark tinted side windows. In a BMW, without any tint, I drove once I did notice that sunlight from the sunroof and the longer windsheild with more slope combined caused the display to be near ilegible.
my .02 if you can afford it get blue

The red for me works just fine. It doesnt wash out in the sunlight and at night I put it on medium bright.

Guys: I think I should sum up something here with the Red vs. Blue display.

In 98% of the cases the red is perfectly fine, and does not wash out... only for specific vehicles (IE: Motorcycle, convertable, T-Tops etc etc etc), (any maybe moon/sun roofs in exceptionally sunny areas is the blue NEEDED... (the red matrix display itself is rather bright and for most all people should do just fine.)

^^^I agree, im looking to by a x50 in the next two days...forever I've wanted the blue but this thread changes things just a lil...My needles and cars audio deck are red so I think it'd match a lot better. that and I recently had the window's tinted so red wont was out.

My car is red and my gauges are greem and orange.... there fore i went with the red to match the color of my car.. blue looks cool but i cant see how it makes sense to pay the extra money for the same performance.
