I understand what you're all saying, lightning apears before you hear the thunder, but when it comes to electronics, it's usually unnoticeable. Especially not a 1-2 second delay as is the case when it comes to my RD. As for the other questions:

I donno about the led blinking in diff patterns for diff bands, but it blinks faster as the signal strength increases.

To the person *****ing about automute -- that's a good reason to have the LED, you can see the location of where mine is mounted in my avatar, it's in the highest possible spot next to the steering wheel. And I swapped it out with a blue 2600mcd LED, it is bright as all hell. You almost think the LED is real LEO lights, gets you to slow down that's for sure, and lets you listen to the radio without having to listen for signal strength or watch the display that much.
