Default Save your Money and Stick to the one saved ya

Most of the times when u read threads from this forums you feel you made the wrong decisions buying your RD. You waste your money changing back and forth. IMO if it a $50 RD or a $500 and you know it works, (saved you a few tickets) stick with it no matter how people bash about it.

Yeah, I would say that bashing should not be around, and if your detector is working for you... good.

On the other hand, there is a reason why people say get the Top-3, they aren't bashing cheaper detectors, its just from experience, they feel that its worth it in the long-run to spend a bit more on a detector that could save you big time, where a cheapo could have failed.

(BTW, this may get moved to general... or lounge, because it has nothing really at all to do with Escort (solely) in anyway, but thats up to the mods/admins just wanted to give you a heads-up incase it does happen.)

yep, i bought the x50 and never looked back, although if I get a better paying job I would definetly consider getting a v1 once they settle on the stupid "E" issue

I also think a lot of it has to be with the individuals needs. When I bought my first radar detector, it was a Whistler 1743 and it was a darn good detector. It saved my butt more than a few times and I think in total I paid about 75 bucks for it. Not a bad deal at all. At the time, I was just a city driver, was in high school so didn't want something too nice.

Now, I am on my 2nd x50 and my 4th radar detector. My needs have changed, I drive on the highways NIGHTLY and take a lot of road trips. I love the x50, becuase for the purposes I want a rd for now, it is perfect.

I have friends all the time impressed by my detector[s], and they always ask which I reccomend. My answer; start of with a Whistler or Cobra. For the majority of the people in this world, thats all they need. It just so happens that elite minority, all visit this board!

I agree that use what you are comfortable with. My Pro-73 is excellent, has decent range, and works great even around curves and hills. Now one thing you will find on this forum are with well, any forum you'll have your zombies or "fan boys" but like I say, pick what you will be comfortable with and what works for you. Now yes the top 3 are great and even though I don't own one, hey if you can afford it, go for it!

Got my V1 Wed Jul 26, 2006 firmware 3.851 nad no E yet. It seems like the majority of V1's are E free.
