Only from a distance of 1382 feet. Isn't that like a 1/4 of a mile?

There is NO detector that will give you a spectre warning, including the 8500

Hmm. somehow i'm not surprised, whistler and cobra units did have a nasty tendancy to alert on the wrong band. Still, it's nice that they tried, more than anyone else did at the time.

Well the old Cobra did not "exactly" detect the Spectre I, but it came close. The Spectre I detected the Cobra and the Cobra sometimes gave off a VG2 alert, but never a Spectre alert as it was designed to do. You are correct on Spectre II. Just after this, they upgraded the I to II based upon the Cobra's alert
