A warning about X50 EXP meter.
Just a fair warning to anyone counting on the X50 for multiple threat identification - it doesn't always work. If the frequencies are fairly close together it will still only show one signal. While testing out a friend's Rev 6.1 X50 we were detecting an officer on K band. I flipped on my K-Band tester and while the signal got stronger, it still only showed one signal on the expert meter.

It does the opposite of ghosting, it turns two threats into 1, wonder if its a 6.1 thing.
It would be nice to know how close the frequencies actually were, because I have never had this issue.... on any of my detectors for that matter.

well I can see how it could happen like that, since the thing is just a simple reciever it cant really tell if a contact is coming into it from the right, left or dead ahead, so if the signals are close enough together I can definately se this happening............ but I will say that it has never happened to me before...........BUT i think maybe on Ka, the cops here use Stalker DSR dual antenna units, and they ALWAYS run both antennas while mobile, but i only usually only track 1 ka signal when I see um
I'll confirm compu44 findings. It's kinda ironic but I was about to ask this question before I read this post. I was traveling down a road today where there is a known K band false ( CVS Drug Store ). Well up ahead about half a mile a local LEO is running run K " Constant On ". As I drive by him my detector is screeming through the roof, so I can verify he was running K. Well, I'm only showing one bar of K on my expert meter so I'm thinking this isn't an issue, it's just the drug store. I was def close enough to recieve 2 bar. Well, not so........ I start shaking my head thinking to myself why am I not getting two bars of K........ This must be the answer, if the freqs. are close it will only show one bar..... Let ask Jim, I'm sure he'll have something interesting to say on this issue.
i have noted that there in a Walgreens that runs on K band when they are open and when they close its doesn work at all..... sometimes it s a lil screwy
i've picked up 2 signals on mine with cops running stalker dual antenna's on ka..
mine is a 6.1 and it does display two lines when it picked up constant on radar from a cruiser as well as the door opener, but sometimes if there's two or more door openers it will only display the strongest of the two so it doesn't ghost, other times it display's both
I never new auto door openers operated K band on something similar to police K band.
What we need is a GPS based radar detector where you can filter out one frequency when in that area.
EG. Deactivate k band that is used on the openers at Sears.
a RADAR device can fall out of tune so really theres no real point in a system like that, since you can rule it out one day, the next time you go by it could alert again, or maybe filter out the hiding cop and hit up on the weaker door signalOriginally Posted by Toronto-radar-chopper
K-band is a prettynarrow frequency range in the RADAR area, so all things there (whether its Officer Smith or the local grocery store) operate on 24.15 GHz, and vary when in/out of tune
