How much do you trust your X50 at night?

I drive sometimes on the NJ GSP at night, and I must say that I don't trust my vision in detecting LEO's more than my RD. My RD is pretty good, the only problem is that it doesn't do anything for Laser, and now that NJ state troopers almost all have laser, I don't know if I should trust it. Also, do state troopers use Laser at night? Or in the rain perhaps? I know I saw some sitting in the center turn lane, but I didn't get any Laser alerts. My question is how comfortable should I be with my X50 when speeding at night? How much do you guys trust your Radar Detectors?

we all here trust our RD's because if we didnt then we wouldnt speed and we wouldnt need them :wink:

i trust the V1 at night more than the X50 cuz if i do get hit with laseri will know.... but on the contrary, at night i dont go as fast(usually 5-10 mph diff) as i usually drive simply for the fact that you cant spot the cops as far away as you can during the day. but during the day i will trust them equally as much.... now i do trust the X50 at night its just if i am getting hit with alser, i wanna know

I have never seen a LEO run lidar at night. I think it would be dangerous to be on the side of the road at night when it is dark.

Plus you need a 2 LEO operation, and they seem to have a skeleton crew for traffic enforcement at night time.

I trust it at night as much as I trust it during the day. IMO, it's far superior to the V1 at night given you can actually see what kind of gun is being used as opposed to measuring dots from top to bottom

The V1 might detect laser better, but all it's really doing is letting you know you have a ticket quicker than the X50. Laser sucks.

In Cali, they can't use laser in the rain. I don't know for sure about night.

Until they develop lidar that can accuratlet detect your speed through closed windows in the comfort of the police cruiser, I don't think it will grow like radar has.

Anywhere in the world, when it is to cold, rainy, to hot, the leo's union says no way and back to radar it is.

Lidar is easy to jam anyways, even if they ban jammers, they show JTG at the gun during normal operation.

pro laser 3 has that feature already (shoot throught windshield) and special weather mode (or was it laser atlanta?) but anyway most leo's prefer radar because they can use it while cruising and doesn't require much skill, just point the gun towards the vehicle!

and I do trust the x50 at night just like I would in the day, but sometimes the leo is so sneaky I can't always make a visual ID because, they hide to well :x

Cause we live in the same city, couple of times I've seen the same cop doing laser from a covered shelter bus station, location: Moore Ave just west of Bayview, 40 km/h zone, I've seen him doing laser in the middle of the winter, cold outside, laser gun on the tripod targeting the westbound traffic, all the time in the afternoons, he parks his cruiser across on one of the other residential streets... no idea what laser gun he was using... so be careful out there... also, never ever seen laser traps during night time...

i trust it, but i dont speed like i normaly do in the daytime. at night ill go maybe 5 or 10 over. and if i have no rabbit i never go more then 5 or 6 over at night.

all depends on if theres anyone in front of me... i have very little laser exposure where i live, but they do instant on alot, and so if im the only one ill go like 5-10 over but if i have a car a few hundred feet infront of me i feel fairly safe that it will alert me in time....
