self cal and service required messages

i have heard that self cal and service required messages can appear on some x50s after just a short time. i thought i got a good unit because i had no such messages and i had bought it in august. yesterday i got repeated self cal messages and then a service required. i tried using the x50 today and it is now fine...the only difference being that last night it was pouring rain. does rain affect radar detectors?

No, as long as they are out of it, rain has no impact on the unit itself... however, the (detection) range may be a bit different, especially when LIDAR is concerned because of the effects of the rain.

i have a rev 13 8500 and mine is fine and then it will alert to k band and shows 2 on the exp mode? then when i reset it and went to go test it past a speed sign it didnt even alert!! i drove past with my 955 and go .68mi alert. i need to send it in though i knew it had problems before i bought it so i geuss i cant complain i got a good deal.

May just be a coincidence, but when my RX65 gave a service required, it was raining out. Possibly they have some issue with high humidity?

actually i have found that in rain my cars voltage is severely different and has fluctuated, i bet you lost voltage or something like that.

AirMoore you seem to know your stuff- what do you think? i've only gotten the messages on one day when it was pouring rain

I don't know if it happened on the car in which I got the service required, but on this car I can hear the serpentine belt slip occasionally if it gets wet. Wonder if it stops charging momentarily and that screws with the RD...
