You need to take a multimeter and find out what pins are power, ground, and are responsible for the mute function. Once you have the pinout, you have to construct a cable and perhaps a breakout box to mount your controls. If you go step by step, it shouldn't be too big of an issue, but it will take time and some money. I've been thinking about making a pinout of the Bel RX65 smartcord since I'd like to hardwire mine, but I've just not gotten around to it yet. If there is a lot of interest in this, or it hasn't been published, then I may do this. If you really want to know, PM me and I'll see what I can do.
BTW, does anyone know if the Beltronics and Escort smartplugs are the same? I kind of assume they are.
