Default Something Might Be Wrong [8500 X50 BLUE]

So when I first had my radar detector, about 3 weeks ago, I would get a ramping up detection. (K Band. I think its some stationary radar since there's no one around at all and it's in the middle of the median and this location is on the highway (Highway 4) and is pretty much in the mountains kind of) Then recently, past few days, I noticed that in the same location of that same area, I wouldn't get the ramping up detection? The traffic was the same, and everything like that. I'll draw a picture for you guys to understand better. So now all I get is a full scale then once I look at what band is displaying, the alert goes away to 0. I also tried going both ways of the highway, and what I'd get is silence then FULL blast then silence. No ramping up/down whatsoever? Think this could be a problem with my RD? I think I can exchange it possibly at BestBuy with some excuse, I also got an extra 1 year warranty of some sort for the RD there as well.

    Picture:

I also have noticed that I'm hardly getting scaling alerts lately. Hmm.

    Oh, forgot:

No messages yet. Oh yeah, this was an open box from Best Buy. Will I still be able to return it? =/ I bought it on... 11/9/06

Whoa I just read on the bottom it says:
GIFT PURCHASES MADE NOVEMBER 1 - DECEMBER 24, 2006 QUALIFY FOR AN EXTENDED RETURN POLICY (EXCLUDES COMPUTERS AND NOTEBOOKS).
LAST DAY FOR 14 DAY PRODUCTS - JAN 8, 2007
LAST DAY FOR 30 DAY PRODUCTS - JAN 24, 2007.

So does this mean I can return it even though its an open box? And would there be a restocking fee?

Just exchange it out for another one and there should be NO problems

As long as you exchange it for something else, there will be no restocking fee. Well, at least that's how Circuit City does it. Just tell them you dont know if something is wrong and would like the exchange it to make sure. As billay said, it might be IO.
From your post, I cant really make out if there is an actual cop running radar in the median.

It's not a cop. There's just always a radar signal of K Band right at that spot. And the suction cup mounts aren't really good on these, I hate how if you use it, then leave it there and want to move it, the suction cups are less "suction-y" if you know what I mean because it's like bent.

I already called Best Buy, and suprisingly, the person that I talked to at Best Buy about the x50 (even though I already knew everything I needed to know about it) remembered me on the phone, so he was cool with it and all.
So tomorrow I'll get a replacement, this time I'll make sure I get a Rev 6.

If you move the suction cups and find they aren't holding try moistening them. Get a little water and dip your finger in it then rub it on the suction cups and it will cause suction when you stick it on the window, and believe me when it dries they aren't coming down unless you want them to 90% of the time
