what happens if you run the unit in highway mode? does the auto sensitivity still take effect?
I can only think of a few possibilities where it could hurt you but they are pretty extreme cases. construction, or school zones with freakishly low speeds. even then the officer would have to be running x or k band which for the most part is starting to become less common.

I just got my V1 back from the homeland today and it was driving me crazy driving around town. I'm envious of you guys, with your good detection and silent driving.

Hwy - Full sensitivity all the time on all bands.

Auto - Full sensitivity on Ka/Laser and speed related for K and X (15mph and below decreased sens., 16mph and up full sens).

City - Reduced sens. on X band, full sens. on other bands.

I pulled into a Walgreen's with my 9500i on A mode. Quiet. Nothing. I dove away.

I came back with it on H mode. It picked up the door opener about 1/8 to 1/4 miles away.

Looks like A mode is speed variable, while C mode is reduced sensitivity, and H mode is full sensitivity.

I can confirm that the H mode maintains full sensitivity while the A mode depends on speed.

I just went through false alley. Had a great experience. Of the usual 3 falses (2k and 1 x) I only picked up the 1 x band false when I was almost on top of it. I locked it out, and on my way back it did not alert. The K-band falses (cvs and grocery store) which usually make all my detectors go bonkers did not get a peep out of the 9500i until I put it into highway mode.

The marked speedtrap location function also worked very well, although I have to say at 25mph 1/2 mile warning is obscenely long.

Well, I got to see what happens when you mark a speed trap and a cop is actually radaring there.

I marked a speed trap near my house... I got the warning at 1/2 mile. Then at 1500 feet I turned onto the side-street where the trap always is, and immediately got a KA band warning.

Later, I got a moving KA band hit from a cop approaching me around a curve. I'd say good 1/2 mile warning on that one.... however this single cop appeared as 2 signals on the expert meter. 1 very strong and 1 very weak KA band. As soon as I passed this cop, both signals dropped almost immediately. I think the rx65 held on to this type of signal a bit longer after passing the cop, and the V1 of course never shuts up till the cop is miles away.

Anyway, So far today I've been very very impressed.

I have yet to encounter a situation where I am hit by K band where I have a K band signal locked out. In my local town KA band is used nearly 100% for speed traps... so I need to get lucky in a neighboring town.

Also, no laser hits yet.

For the record... in my "False Alley" test, the 9500i is the only Belscort product I've ever used that actually is "quieter" than the V1. All other top o' the line detectors I've tested alerted to the exact same false spots as the v1...although the v1 was the most vocal and annoying in notifying me about these spots.

This detector is the first to ever reduce the @ of Door opener falses out of the box.

I agree as well...Even if you choose not to lockout the falses, running in auto seems to be excellent in filtering...I love this detector more and more everyday..I have yet to drop a GPS signal also..Even during a heavy storm

Yeah, the GPS pickup is phenomenal. In my garage, which currently has a foot of snow on it's roof, I'm still getting a lock within 3 seconds or so.
