    Default Lockout question...

I was thinking today *scary I know*, but how are you all locking out the false's?

would it be more efficient to lock out the false's by driving up to them within a few feet from the door?

example if the door sets 25 to 50 yards off the main road and you do it this way would you be increasing your chances of preventing it locking out an actual leo.

as opposed if you are driving along on the road and get a false from the door and you lock it out from the road which is where the officer would be, near the main road.

just curious what you think would work better?

does it lock out the coordinates and then blanket those for say X amount of feet to where you won't get any alerts on that freq?

sorry this is probably confusing, so if you need me try and clarify hehe I'll try my best.

Glad to hear someone else wonders about this.

Since the "lockout" is a relatively small area it seems to me that the lockout is actually locking out the signal at the GPS coords that you lock out. So if you lock it out far enough away you may actually get the alert again as you get closer to it :?:

By the same token though if you lock it out right at the door will it alarm when you drive away and outside the "lockout" circle :?:

I too had wondered about this and the accuracy of the GPS.....how big an area does the "lockout" use?

    Some situations I have encountered:

    1. I am on the road driving by the door opener and it causes my 9500i to alert. I will then lock it out.

    2. I am on the road driving by the door opener but it does not cause my 9500i to alert. Nothing to lock out.

    3. I drive into the location with the door opener. If I am in A mode and doing 15 mph or less, the 9500i will not alert.

I have only had my 9500i a week now so there are probably many more situations I have yet to experience. As I do I will post them.

I don't have access to radar guns but can try some things with door openers and different 9500i modes if anyone would like.

I believe the issue is whether it is better to lock when you first encounter the signal, or wait until you are as close to the source as possible. For example, a radar speed sign, you get notification many hundreds of feet before the actual sign location. Is it better to lock when you get the signal, or lock when you pass the source? Wondered this myself. When I lock at the first signal, and go past it the next day, it is silent the whole time. I have had a couple of strange things happen. I locked out a K band sign. As I past the sign (strongest signal), I was alerted to a Ka signal that lasted for just a short time. Occurs every time I pass if I turn Trulock off.

I turned off the SpeedAlert feature and turned on the ExpertMeter on mine.

When I drive through my neighborhood, I can look at my expertmeter and instantly recognize the profile of my local falses... so locking them out is not a problem. If I'm going through my area and I get the same weak K band signal I always do at exactly this point, and its the only signal displayed, I hit lockout.

If I'm in an area I'm not familiar with, I simply don't lock it out... because if I'm not familiar with the area, chances are I won't be here enough for the "falses" to annoy me.

I really have to say though the speed dependent sensitivity is fantastic, especially when pulling into shopping centers. Where before my detectors would have me lunging towards the mute button, this baby is quiet as a church mouse on sunday.

I wouldn't lock out anything that is not permanently in place. I'm only locking out door openers and traffic light changers.

I regards to your question though... The lock out area is so small that it may not go into lock out mode if you hit lock out at the source. Those speed signs can alert you at a 1/2 mile and more.

Unfortunately I have yet to come across a stationary speed sign. Just before I got my 9500i they were all over.
