Yeah. I'll have to introduce him to the .net since it's the ultimate source of related information. Except then he'll be like "Get a load of this Brick guy. Sounds like you except I don't think he has a life. Look at all those posts!"![]()

It's funny because my last two saves on the Thruway were from constant-on Ka. I had loads more reaction time than I needed. I think the most recent one was an accident, though. The chase car seemed to have left his radar on and I was just picking up the reflections. The arrows turned right as I got next to him and his "customer" and the alert got much stronger. Lucky break because I was going faster than usual!Originally Posted by SmaartAasSaabr
I think that things get worse on the Thruway the farther you are from the MA border. My one trip to Rochester was a nightmare. All kinds of Ka traps both ways and one guy with a laser who insisted on hitting me both front and back. And this was well before I even considered countermeasures.
What roads in NY?Originally Posted by SmaartAasSaabr

Roads... the 87, 90, all those "Thruway" portions and the Taconic State Pkwy, plus even a lot of old US-routes (ie Rt 11), once I was going not too fast, and the road curves... at the curve there is a dark blue CV hidden in there and it was a pretty overcast day, with tall grass and all. No radar activity and that sucker was REALLY well hidden. Had I driven like I normally do I would have been busted. I was going approximately 70 miles per hour and did a nasty brake to 60 when I saw the mere reflection of the car's presence. Didn't even bother clocking me.
I waved to the officer inside![]()
It is hard to explain the way it was set up but the way it had been would make it impossible to distinguish the presence of the trap visually outisde targeting range of the radar. Being a very sparsely traveled secondary highway, there was no catching of cars ahead.
In QC we have a lot less enforcement presence than there is in NY and in Ontario. I remember driving down to NYC and back to pick up my SPG. I saw... maybe one NYS Trooper per mile pretty much all the way to Albany, and still kept seeing them further down. Luckily I was in a truck with a carhauler and couldn't go too fast, kept about 105km/h. Interestingly, all the cars around me also did about 65 sometimes 70mi/h. Whereas I would go well over 100 in these parts in my proper car - but with the enforcement... scary.
my expierence on the NY thruways is you can go up to 75mpgh in a 65mph without getting pulled over everyone i know pulled over was doing more than 10mph over
