I don't think it's an X50 with GPS because it does not behave like an X50. The 9500i does not ramp up like the X50 in K and Ka band. Initial test shows that the 9500i in Ka band is better than the X50. The X50 does not have the speed sensing auto sensitivity that the 9500i has. Although, it looks to me that some of the features the X50 had was incorporated with the 9500i, i believe it has a new platform.
I'm guessing that X50/9500i used Bels ramp up software but kept the X50 tones.
If Ka is better in the 9500i then Escort probably tweaked it.
The reason that X50 does not have the speed sensing auto sensitivity that the 9500i has is because that is used by GPS.
I have a Nextel i870 cell phone with GPS navigation and if I set it on compass it will show my direction and speed as well.
Oh by the way it has the scanning dot when searching for information.

I also believe X50/9500i is based on the same platform and Escort is also my second favorite, Escort needs to work on their tones, they should have not lost the ramp up that they had before, that was a step backwards and even the X50 was too soft and not as pleasing as a V1 IMHO.

Not to defend nascar here. The 9500i has evolutionized how a radar detector woks. Other companies want performance with their products and others make one with good balance as far as detecting alerts and filtering unwanted alerts. As seen on every radar detector, there is always some ups and downs , strength's and weaknessess, price factor and most importantly an individuals preference.

Debating someone here will not even help you or the other guy and as a matter of fact to others as well. A good source for performance testing is GOL's yearly test for comparing top radar detectors. That said, let everyone enjoy the benefits of discussion and others opinion without getting into an agruement or debate because we all will learn from it. I do have a V1 and X50 that i currently used and have tried the 9500i that's borrowed for about 2 weeks to see if it really works as advertized and from my initial review, it worked as advertized. Performance wise, i'll leave it up to GOL's march test. The top 4 radar detector's are sufficient enough to own as far as performance goes and i'm very comfortable using any of those top 4.

But to incorporate speed and sensitivity of the radar detector is what i credit escort engineers for. It extremely made the 9500i much much quieter by cutting off unwanted alerts at lower speeds and when the vehicle is not moving even without using the lockout method and back to full sensitivity at higher speeds.

Just wondered if there are any RD's out there that has the same feature with the 9500i regarding auto speed sensitivity. Does anyone know? Of course this has to have a patent.

If indeed the Ka has been tweaked specially if it matches or beats my V1 3.825, you have to be surprised on how if filters false Ka alert.

I don't waste my time following your posts. You don't appear too bright and you seem to know little about anything. You are obnoxious and uneducated. Your posts clearly illustrate your immaturity and lack of knowledge.

Continue your personal attacks since you enjoy making a fool out of yourself.

Cobra has a similar feature without using GPS. It somewhow detects engine RPM to determine if you are moving slowly, and mutes accordingly....

This is probably true but I wonder what bases they use to filter door openers ? Do they have a specific quality that ie humm, noise, bandwith, tone or otherwise to suggest they are in any way different to a signal generated by a LEO ?

Anytime Nascar, anytime. Again just a bunch of words with you with no facts to back up your conclusions.

In that case of the cobra, i can easily make conclusions that it can give you problems as far as muting is concerned. You can get full sensitivity without moving, you can be speeding but RPM is low. My 05 sienna can stay below 2K rpm @ 55 mph and can be at 70 mph coasting at between 1-1.5K rpm depending on terrain.

I think escort has nailed this feature into almost perfection because it really works by giving the 9500i a mind of it's own without any inputs from the driver or user.

Sorry to everyone on the forum. I am not trying to cause trouble for anyone, its just this Nascar guy thinks he is a real know it all. Like everyone else, I see this forum as a place to exchange ideas about radar detectors. It's people like Nascar that ruin the experience with his know it all attitude.

    Sorry again everyone.
