In the case of the 9500i, the sensitivity is severely decreased in K and X band when not in motion or at lower speeds 30 mph(this is just a guess) or below. It will still pick up police radar if they are nearby when the threshold is met. Note that police radars have stronger power output than the autodoor sensors.

    Sorry again everyone.

No one here is foolish enough to accept your back handed and insincere apology.

Anytime Nascar, anytime. Again just a bunch of words with you with no facts to back up your conclusions.

Not neccessarily but can be done. Will see what the GOL test rsults will be.

but to me it just looks like an X50 with GPS... plus as Escort stated it is no better performance wise than the X50
per Escort..."The PASSPORT 9500i's radar sensitivity has been optimized to improve response time and accuracy including the addition of Ku-band for European travelers. ESCORT's superior Laser circuitry has also been improved through the use of multiple high-performance laser sensors and ESCORT's proprietary software". I can say the Laser and Ka does "seem" to be improved. I also have had NO FALSES with Ka yet. As for K band, I don't have enough experience yet to tell. It does "seem" to indicate fewer "non-LEO" alerts.

Just because it looks like an X50 to you does't mean it has the same platform. Escort has even said in the past that the X50 has better Ka band performance than the 8500 and found out with testing that the 8500 was a better performer in some Ka band detection. Escort stated that city mode only affects X band but during some test, it filters K bnad. We will never know until they do the test.
I am willing to bet anyone that it is based on the X50 platform. I am not sure why so many people hate the X50 in terms of performance. They make it sound like it is a low end detector. Personally the X50 is my second favorite detector (at least my wife's old one that I sold a while back). Its performance is good and its features are rich.

Not to defend nascar here. The 9500i has evolutionized how a radar detector woks. Other companies want performance with their products and others make one with good balance as far as detecting alerts and filtering unwanted alerts. As seen on every radar detector, there is always some ups and downs , strength's and weaknessess, price factor and most importantly an individuals preference.

Debating someone here will not even help you or the other guy and as a matter of fact to others as well. A good source for performance testing is GOL's yearly test for comparing top radar detectors. That said, let everyone enjoy the benefits of discussion and others opinion without getting into an agruement or debate because we all will learn from it. I do have a V1 and X50 that i currently used and have tried the 9500i that's borrowed for about 2 weeks to see if it really works as advertized and from my initial review, it worked as advertized. Performance wise, i'll leave it up to GOL's march test. The top 4 radar detector's are sufficient enough to own as far as performance goes and i'm very comfortable using any of those top 4.
Amen. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Bashing others simply because they post their opinions does no good except to enrage everyone. There is NO perfect RD as said above each has its own +/- 's. When all is said or done any of the top 4 will provide an alert within seconds/milliseconds of each other. I do appreciate Escort's efforts to improve on the RD as we know it, offering new features. Each must decide if these "new features" appeal to them, but lets not fight over it.

I sure agree with that. ANY of the top 4 will get the job done.
