Default Pawn shop guy knows nothing!

I went to a pawn shop the other day too help a buddy sell a sub woofer, and I brought my X50 along with me to see what I could get.

The guy in the pawn shop told my buddy that he would get $50 for his 2 year old 15" JL W3 with a box. Needless to say that thing left with us.

So after that I asked the guy what I could get for the X50 Blue, with a case and everything. He asked what I wanted for it and I said I was just wondering what I could get for it. He told me a dollar and asked to name a price above that, so I followed suit in the dumbass games and said $340. He then proceded to tell me that they sold for brand new for $200, and that the X50s werent really that good. I told him that I got it at BB less than a year ago for $340 and he told me to my face that I got ripped off. WOW.

I took it back and we talked about RD's for a bit. I told him I had a V1 and he said that I wasted my money because COBRA(!!!!!!) was coming out with the answer to all RD needs and if possible to send it back and wait.

We left that subject and moved on to Escort again, he also informed me(mater of factly) that the new Escort will have a built in rechargable battery and it will be able to be mounted in the grill of the car with a remote display type deal.

I told him he was wrong and left.

I cant believe how ignorant some people can be, the whole time he was talking about things that were totally wrong(which was 99% of the time his lips were moving) he was talking like he was Escort radar him self, or Mr V. He was just so confident that he was right. I hate those types of people.

The world is full of self proclaimed experts. Don't waste your time arguing with them. Really, what's the point. Furthermore, what did you expect from a hock shop? I mean, these guys are pretty much the greasiest dirtbags out there--buying $hit from hard up people desperate for a few bucks, or better yet, fronting goods from some kids B+E spree.

    Default what

Sounds like another uneducated person who know "nothing" about rd's but claims he does. Ignorant sounds like a good word.

Selling stuff to a pawn shop will never be in your favor period.

In response to his idiotic radar detector knowledge, well that's just about the majority of the US population anyway.

ps. When I bought my X50 red at best buy it was on sale. I got it for 260, while the blue was for 300.

Agreed, why not just put it up on an internet auction site and be done with it? Why would any computer savvy person even think of going to a pawn shop?

What a chump - i've heard too many stories like this, especially from guys that work at radioshack. No point in arguing with someone like that, just take satisfaction in knowing hes the dumb@ss using the cobra and you're not.

    Default yeah

One thing I got at decent prices at a pawn shop were CD's and cassettes. That was about it though.

I wasnt planning on selling the X50, I just wanted to see how much he would give for me.

They did have a really cool weed wacker, and a creepy guy that stood in the back and looked at random stuff.
