Default Drove through False Alley w/ 9500i in H mode...

After reading Happy A$$' comments about his feeling that the V1 had better range on K and X mode, I decided to drive through false alley again.

False Alley is a street in my neighborhood I drive through every day. I've driven through with an X50, an rx65 a V1 and now the 9500i.

All three of the traditional detectors alert to the same three falses at roughly the same location on the street.

    1. CVS (K)
    2. Car Dealer (X)
    3. Grocery Store (K)

The Rx65, V1 and X50 all alert at roughtly the same place (within about 100 feet of each other) to these threats.

Today, I turned off GPS filtering and set the 9500i into H mode.

False 1 didn't alert until I was right on top of it. K-Band
False 2 alerted as normal X-band
False 3 didn't alert at all.

I only did one run of this scenario, but I'd have to say based on this it definitely looks like sensitivity is reduced with this unit.

Later today I'll try a more scientific approach and do multiple runs with first the 9500i then the v1 against the same falses and see how they compare distancewise.

    Hamster,

My X band is also effected as far as less range. I also have experienced the same thing as you on a couple of runs but I thought it was a fluke so I did not say anything about my 9500i not alerting to K band on known false spots. Maybe the 9500i has unique filtering or something? I sure hope so and I hope on real radar threats my 9500i alerts me MUCH better on K band then it does with false spots

My observation as well. K band "non LEO" signals are less. Haven't had any good K band LEO encounters (just signs). Looking forward to GOL K band tests. I know Laser and Ka is good though.

FYI regarding X and K band:

My local mini-market recently had their door opener adjusted down as it was interfering with another adjacent store's opener. I mentioned to the Korean owner that his door seemed to hesitate or stick and that's how I found out about it.

Hence, I wouldn't rely on K band or X band openers with regards to effectiveness of a unit's detection.

I'm not sure how the detector would distinguish LEO vs non LEO, but I'm also eager to see how the detector does at GOL. For now I still love the thing to death, but I've not had many real encounters yet... none on K band thus far.

I can't wait until Michael B gets a hold of a 9500i and tests the sensitivity.

Are these lack of encounters coincidence???

Just before I received my 9500i there were YSI signs all over. Plus I would get LEO alerts more frequently. It's like they knew I was getting a 9500i and stopped using radar.

    What gives?

    haha same here.

There is a road near me where they shoot KA 24/7 from squad cars which they drive up the 1 mile stretch belonging to the city. Since I got my 9500i, they have not been out at all.

    Its as if they knew....

Professor what kind of advanced filtering could be taking place on the 9500i?
