9500i Auto Volume

I would prefer that the 9500i be a tiny bit louder....my 8500 was louder I think. I was at a truck stop today and picked up a sort of CB extension speaker with a mini plug on it for $9.00. It is surprising solid and made of metal. When I plugged that into the 9500i and powered on you could really hear it (like in the car next to me you could hear it). I may try to mount that out of the way and thread the cord down thru the smart cord.

....as a follow up (meant to ask this in prior post), do you suppose that the auto volume feature works? I have my 9500i set on max volume...I don;t imagine if I am blaring music that the auto volume will make it any louder- rather that I can set it- what? on medium or quiet and the volume of alerts will automatically be in creased in a loud environment??
