Help me understand why everyone dislikes the alert tones on the 9500i. From what I understand, they don't "ramp up" and act like a geiger counter - like the V1 and X50 do?
Are the 9500i's tones and ramp up the same as the RX65 or STi?

I'll compare my X50 to my (returned) 9500i. Say the radar source is one mile away.Originally Posted by ES13Raven
The X50 alerts with beep. As you drive toward the source the beep increases in a mostly linear method (like a Geiger counter) with the beeps becoming increasingly quicker melting into an almost solid BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP. I like it.![]()
The 9500i alerts just like the X50 at first but then it drastically changes. There is no beep melting. It is not like a Geiger counter. It goes from beep beep to BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP. And it gives you this false sense that you are far away from the source at first, but then you see the source is right there, you say HOLY S^%T! I didn't like it.
I hope that explained it. A video would be much better. Maybe the guys that have a 9500i can do a video.
Got the video for the ramp up X50 and 9500i. I agree with nascar. It's a beep beep and then beeeeeeeeeeeep. No in between that gives you a false sense that the source is still far away. If i did not use spec mode, i could have took it for granted as either true LEO source or from another RD. When it showed 24.224, i knew it was real. Auto door openers don't operate in that frequency.Originally Posted by nascar
I'll post a link of the video before the end of the week. I like the alert tones of the 9500i compared to my X50 though.
Thanks guys...

Like the ramp up of the X50 as well. I wonder why the STi doesn't have the same ramp up as the X50?
Here's a video link for the 9500i ramp up alert. I will edit and add the X50 ramp up alert for comparison here later.

Nice video, my Internet explorer failed and shut down but AOL played the video.
No ramp up sucks, distance is surprise surprise.
Tones sound like a slot machine in Nevada, you won you won, here is your ticket!
I hate the sound of slot machines.![]()
WTF happened there? Brap....brap.....brap....brap.brap.brap.brap.brap
Was that a slight curve? High steep was that curve? Can't wait to see the comparison.
