I've just keep mine on the windshield. They hold fine and the detector hasn't fallen since I've had it ( 3 years ). They still look new as well.

I've done this and it solved the problem. Run some could water over them to moisten up the rubber. Dry then off with a soft cloth and stick it to your windshield.....

Something to think about...... Is the detector pulling down on both suction cups evenly. Is your windshield shaped where one suction cup gets more weight on it. My Glass is curved so I have to mount mine below the Rear view mirror in order to get good suction on the cups.

I can visually see the cups have perked up a bit after boiling them. I then cleaned my windshield with cleaner and a newspaper. It seems to be the left suction that keeps falling off, it seems pretty sturdy and ill yank on it and it will be fine. Guess the detector is making it slide down, thus loosing its suction.
I will try switching the suctions over and maybe it will help if not I guess I can get my lay butt up and spend a couple of bucks on some new ones. I have not used my detector in a long time, like 6 months or so cause I am to lazy to fix it.
