    My friend has a Passport 8500 for sale
    but doesnt know if its an original or an X50
    any way to tell the differences between the two?

    any help would be greatly appreciated

    The X-50 model says X-50 on the top.

    It would be printed on top of the unit.

    The X50 has it written on the Top.

    i keep seeing people listing these

    as 8500 X50 so im like wtf?

    That is the original. I guess some people on fleabay will buy it not knowing the difference. I have an 8500 and I think it is better than the x50 I used to have. (rev. 3)

    Yes, I am waiting for the V-1 to have a revision that lasts more than a few months, then I will buy another V-1 and the 8500 will go in my wife's car.

    I really like the 8500 though. It is great for $140 off fleabay.

    x2. The original 8500 is a great detector. I'll never get rid of mine even though I use the STi now.
