    Default Fixed my smartcord

I fried my smartcord somehow by trying to use a phonecord as a extention this weekend. I know the phone cord is not straight through so I made it a straight through but that killed my smartcord when i tried it. And since these things cost 30 bucks and it only took 15 min. to fix, heres a write up. I found a 3A block fuse that i used when we fixed retail boards at work. I have also seen them used in some stereo equipment. You need some wire cutters, the smaller the better, and a soldering iron (and some lead).

I cut the green 2A fuse right where it leads out just above the yellow and red wires and placed the new fuse between the leads that are now sticking out from the board. Bend the leads as flat as you can without breaking them

Solder carfully. Make sure the fuse and lead makes a connection with the solder and avoid cross soldering.

Put everything back together your done. I just tested it and my X50 is alive again :P . Voltage is normal on the X50 screen. And i just saved 30 bucks and shipping time 8)

    ^ Cool write-up! Thanks!

I used a phone-cord to repair as well as to "reconfigure" my SmartCord, but luckily never had it blow the on-board fuse. This will be a very useful reference!

    Thanks TSi+WRX,

I can admit it's rice but the engine is swapped to a 1.8L integra LS engine.

It has DOHC but no VTEC yet suprisingly.

That's coming soon (integra GSR head).

I've got plenty more pics maybe I'll start a topic in cars section.

^ Nah, that's not rice at all - very clean, and to tell you at least how I see it (from a DSM and now Subie background), it's rather understanted and classy, too.

I really like it. 8) It's like Darth Vader's little weekend getaway ride.
