One reason X50 over V1

I had heard for years how good the V1 is/was. I still believe it is a great detector and from what I have seen the performance seems to be pretty much the same for the V1, RX65 and the X50. I was pretty close to getting a V1, but one thing that bothered me and perhaps some of you can explain this to me. Why on the V1 site do they only post results from 2002? 3 years seems like a long time to be holding onto ONE test that the V1 won. The bashing of the 8500 is also on the site. I presume this was the older one. I havent seen any bashing like that from either the bel or escort sites. Has the V1 been selling by its name recognition and old tests? Also, is it good business to "insult" your rivals products on your site? Personally, I think not!
Just some of my thoughts at the time when I was debating on buying a V1.

They have those results on there, because the competition now is so close you cant tell a difference.

it was escort that said "The world's best radar detector" first. I think that over the years V1 has by far had the most insults from people eg Craig Peterson hes a so called reveiwer and all he can do is talk down to VR, its almost sad to read the guy's off the plant. So take the VR site as a "in your face.. because i can" :wink:.

That squabbling has been going on for ages….it boils down to “mine is bigger than yours’”.

They’re both great detectors - - I picked up an X50 a few weeks ago to try it. It’s an excellent detector and cost me $140 less than my latest V1. The POP feature on the X50 is virtually worthless and I put a high value on the directional arrow system incorporated in the V1.

Buy one of each and decide for yourself which is better!

mike v, quotes that test because 1. It's the only test he won in semi-recent time 2. The guy who supervised it it a v1 consultant and on mike's payroll..(Pat Bedard) Yes this is true and if some idiot tries to post some lame made-up excuses... made up by a Car and Driver editor that isn't Pat speaking , then are truly full of horse crap :x Just remember this, Mike V. or Pat has NEVER EVER DENIED Bedard was a consultant on Mike's payroll. Need I say more...

with all the venom on Mike's site again't all the other " leaky detector" companies (meaning anyones detector but his...) and radar detector reviewers you would think that would be there on his site in big bold letters somewhere..?

still don't see it but the old Car and Driver test is there.... STILL! :roll:

I also noticed that the "testimonials" aren't dated. As for the Car and Driver test in 02, is this the last time that Car and Driver did a radar detector test? I will say this though about the V1 site. There is a lot more information on their site for owners compared to the escort site. I am still a little baffled how thin the escort site is with content. I couldn't even find the escort laser jammer on escortradar.com. They do have a lot of radar tests available though on that site vs the 1 available on valentines. Does anyone want to bet that we see the sml 05 test on the escort site before valentines?

i do think there is far too much bashing going on!

its quite funny how they claim all others leak yet..

the v1 has never had any spectre invisibility of any kind! pni and escort have spectre 3 invisibility and they are trying to sort it out, same with bel!

its also funny that in europe bel runs the show because people have a hard time to get a v1! plus with the recent detector bans in european countrys people are turning to different ways like remote detectors will are a brillant way and even better if they have spectre proof!

i love the v1 and i also love other detectors..

i have my snooper up by the mirror and even though is out of the way
on driving about the passed couple of days i have seen loads of cop cars and i thought if they were banned its frightening how easy they could have me with a spectre rdd, like the backstreet cop cars apear out of nowhere ...........

this is why i'm waiting on this uk ban........

its really getting me down all this speed enforcement and the banning of detectors and jammers!

point of a radar detector is performance against speed traps and against rdd's!

if you look at recent radar tests its hard to slam other detectors on performance! i was supprised that even the cobras detector radar pretty well!

its even more of an insult to say how much they cost and how well they can work! even they were first out to combat the pop threat and rdds!

all's i can say is more of a threat to the v1 company than ever before!

mike knows this hense all the slamming...... but at the end of they day if they work good and they are cheap enough people buy them!

if you buy any detector and you think its gives you good detection then aslong as its good enough for you then that should be it!

each to their own! all's i can say is if mikes using the best stuff and bel and escort can make detectors which have equal performance they you got to think how are they abe to compete with higher priced stuff!

pretty amasing when a cheaper detector can outperform a dear one!

but the bel euro 550 detectors fetch £300 in europe and the bel 966 remote ones fetch £449! thats $793 now say usa detectors are dear!

even cheaper makes are sometimes not cheap! well outside they are!

To think I was crying about having to pay $490.00 Canadian for a V1.....
now it doesn't seem so bad....
