    Default turn on 8500?

hey guys, i just bought my first radar, an escort 8500 red, and i went to plug it into my hardwire kit in my car that i already completed and it didnt work, so i plugged it in with the given wired cable, it still didnt work...

before i go replace my fuse, is there anyway this radar needs to be "activated" or "turned on"? thanks.

no instructions with it, bought it refurbished from a buddy so i cant read and find out, thanks guys!

Turn the thumbwheel on the side (the volume control) to turn it on. You'll hear a click. If the knob turns without clicking, it's already on.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

ok, another quick question... all i did was take it out of the box and slap it in city mode, should i go through and "tune" it for my area (heavy city - houston) or should i leave it like it came?

if anyone recommends i should tune it, how/where can i find a walkthrough or someone to talk to to help me?

    thanks guys.
