that's because with two antenna they can shift the stalker to read either rear targets or front targets but they don't run both antennas at the same time....

I know why they have them, and yes they DO run both units at the same time down here, I was just merely showing an example of how the Ka slots get used up with only one police car and possibly missing a second.

Well with regular stalker dual units that 99% of the police depts purchase this isn't possible as also 99.9% of the radar units out there. The only one that can possibly do this is the new stalker dsr 2x unit with two seperate displays...You got some mighty rich cops out there to afford this unit... :wink: Do the units look like the pics in the web page below with two seperate displays?

I know for a fact the MA staties use dual Ka mounted guns. Numerous times I have seen two pretty much identical bars (at times one may be shorter, front/back) coming from a single cruiser.

I have also seen some locals and staties in MA with dual K band mounted guns. It's about 75/25 single/dual when it's a real alert.

Would these have to be the stalkers you talked about, or are there other mounted radar units that can use both heads at the same time??

It could be the stalker dual bill or it could be one of many many radars from a host of different companies that have "dual antenna" capability. This isn't a new innovation btw far from it.. They are used to moniter EITHER traffic from the rear OR traffic from the front but not both at the same time.

The ONLY ONE that can give traffic speeds in both directions at the SAME TIME is the Stalker version that I mentioned in my other post. This is a new innovation and only Stalker has it at this time... :wink:

Ah ok got it now. Thanks for clearing that up. I would have assummed it was just both antennas being on, while speed was either from the front or the rear. Interesting (and somewhat dangerous for us) that stalker makes one that can read from BOTH directions.

My Bel RX-75 is numbered in expert mode...

Example taken from a shopping center I frequent:


Ka would show in the blank space to the left on the display.

Unfortunately, the RX-75 can only track 1Ka 1K and 1X at a time. I take all threats seriously and look for irregularities in signal levels where I typically false to compensate for my inability to track multiple sources on the same band.
