One of our local townships, Cleveland Heights, has traffic enforcement officers who are extremely proficient in visual speed estimation.

This, combined with their preferred use of Instant-On, typically means that they simply won't "gun" you unless they already know that you're sufficiently over the PSL.

Again, as the others have said, it's a radar detector, not a cop-detector. You're getting a lot of X-band noise, so see if you can selectively elicit K-band noise, too, by seeking out K-band emitting door-openers at local shopping centers and/or K-band speed drones.

Also, follow brother ELVATO's suggestions - be sure that all bands are indeed enabled.

Yea, my hometown's motorcyle LEOs are very good at being highly selective with IO when they were enforcing school zone. Then again, it's not that hard to see when someone is going more than 25 :P

Skycart, which revision X50 do you have? To find out your rev #, hold both buttons on the top down along w/ the mute button, and then plug it in, this will show you your revision #.

Also, this unit was purchased in december of 06 through escort.

CVS, WalMarts, etc, use K band door radar. You're in Chi-town, you must have CVS or even Walgreens up there. Go, find one, see if your unit alerts to the K band door radar. If so that tells you that X and K work. Given the design of the X50, if X and K work it's a safe bet that Ka works as well. If you can't pick up K band door radar, send the unit back for repair.

if you are meaning a friend disabled the bands, after it does the power on self test, the x50, at least, makes two audible beeps and flashes the band or bands that have been disabled it would be pretty hard for someone to have messed with his unit and he not know about it...

x2 on the cops leaving empty cars in good hiding spots, I see it all the time here in austin...
