Default Having ongoing problems with 8500 x50 despite repeat repairs

The intent of this post is two fold--diagnose and then see if anyone with experience with Escort CS can give me some insight on how to get a replacement.

I initially started having problems with my X50 from day 3 after purchase (April 2007). Constant X, K, Ka alerts that would be at full strength at random. Could be sitting in my garage and it would happen.

Sent to repair--they adjusted the antenna.

Considering I had a cross country trip to make AND had to mail my unit in, I bought another at BB and returned it, paying the restocking fee. No problem, I was willing to do that.

Got my unit back---still having the same problem, worse actually.

Sent to repair--this time they replaced the PCB and updated it. Don't know what that means but it was on the return card I got with the unit.

Now, I'm not having the same problems I had before but new problems.

I'm getting X falses but in a particular pattern. A few fast beeps, a pause, three or four short beeps and then one beep. Quiet for 10-15 seconds and the same thing. This was in Hwy mode so I switched to City and it stopped. BUT, as we are all well experienced with RD's, this was not your average X leakage (doors, etc) you get in the city. It was an audible pattern that spanned many miles (where I normally do not get falses) and was in a timed pattern. Sometimes, it would just go full bar X for no reason.

Then, I pull up in front of a store I visit every other day and I get a constant laser false I've never received before. It did it again when I pulled into my parking space at my apt. This was on City mode.

I'm very frustrated with Escort as their answer to everything is "send it in". I'm tired of sending it in and getting no acceptable results. Dare I say, I'm about to scrap this unit and get a V-1. If this is the result I can expect from Escort for support....bah...

Sorry dude, I would almost say sell it in fleebay *bites nails* and get another RD of your choice. The X50 I had was working top notch, even 2 years after purchase when I traded it for a radio system, so I always hate it when I hear about products I love going sour But if you can put your conscious aside, sell it there to someone else, or buy another X50 at best buy USING CASH or somewhere like that and stuff your old one in the box and send it back for a refund, defective after swapping the serial # stickers(if you even wanted to go that far). There's more than one way to skin bad CS ...but I say the safer way would be fleebay *shrugs*

It should be noted that I had no problems--none at all--with the unit I purchased temporarily for our cross country trip. I even ran around my designation town with it for a few days before returning it.

I simply have a bad unit. I don't know why Escort won't realize that.

I love driving it, it is so choice, if you have the means I highly recommend you picking one up....mint!!!
I would highly advise against the buying a new one and switching them up cause if you get caught, you will for sure be in a lot of trouble...Just tell the reps on the phone that you have had enough and you want your money back...Just tell them you had enough and you want a full refund and get snootie....

    - Sorry to hear of your troubles.....

Hopefully, you'll find, eventually, a sympathetic ear at Escort C/S or Tech. I think that they need to realize that you need an exchange, not another attempt at servicing.

Good news---I got a very understanding rep today on the phone. He sent over the shipping label and they are going to push a new unit to me next week. Whew....

Now, I just have to do the unfamiliar task of going the PSL for 7-10 days

^ Nice! Best of luck with your soon-to-come replacement!

And, of course, best of luck staying out of trouble for the next few days, too!

Good to hear their sending you a new unit.
There are a few Reps that understand our needs
especially when its not our fault because of a
    malfunctioning unit....

Best of luck on the new unit... I really believe that
it will solve your problem. I've had my X50 for
    3 years with no issues.

SHADY person right here. This is not skinning bad Escort CS, this is skinning BB or another honest human being.
