    Default 8500 VS 8500 X50

Can anyone tell me what I would gain by upgrading my old 8500 to an 8500 X50?

Will my old one also detect POP just not as quickly?

Is the sensitivity/range of the X50 significantly better than my old 8500?

    Thanks for any help!

I don’t believe the old 8500 had POP.

I have an old 8500 and it supposedly has higher quality internals (more expensive). I believe the new X50's are better on KA and the filtering is also better.

The origional 8500 has SWS. The 8500 X50 has POP instead. Now there is a diference in X50s. The X50 up to rev5 uses the same internals as the origional 8500 (FCC ID QKL8500). The X50 rev 6.1 and above use newer (cheaper to produce) internals, (FCC ID QKLX5M4). I can not say which X50 is "better" because I only own a rev5 and have not used a 6.1. Escort claims that the X50 is "X% more sensitive" (no pun intended, also not referring to X band) on K and Ka radar, than the origional 8500. This must have been done (if it is true) by the use of software because the internals stayed the same until the rev6.1.
