Strange laser hits....

I was hoping someone on this board might be able to shed some light on this...
I happen to be in San Diego, CA on buisness. While I was on my way to the job site this morning on the I-15 north my X50 started going nuts with laser alerts between exits 11 through 14, yet my ZR3 never made a peep. Again, on the way back to the hotel the same thing happened when I went southbound between the same exits, and still the ZR3 never went off. Out of curiosity, I just traveled the same route again a few moments ago and had the same response both north and south bound. Does anybody live in the San Diego area and have any idea as to what this might be :?:

I've had the V1 go off a few times when the ZR3 was silent. It's never been a real attack. This has always happened with the sun is behind me and (perhaps) reflecting off cars ahead of me. I assume your LEDs are mounted in the grill down low as well?

Yes, they are mounted in the grill, but the sun is not a factor in this. The first time I went north and southbound in this area it was in the day. But the second time was at night. Also, it is in a very specific spot, between exits 11 - 14 on the I-15. Very strange..

No, no toll booth. I really dont see anything special about the area. Just looks like the rest of the interstate. And it only goes off between exits 11-14. But between these exits it is constant hits. Not just 1 or 2. I get falses for the whole duration of highway between these exits, northbound and southbound, day or night. Im considering disabling the laser band on the X50 as I do have my ZR3. Even in a real threat, from what I've been reading if the laser alert on an RD goes off it is just a ticket notifier at that point. Does anybody know if you disable the laser band on the X50 and you are linked to the ZR3, the jammer should still work right? As long as I leave the ZR3 in shifting mode I think it will still jam and alert.

Here is my theory:

I suspect that there is a microwave dish somewhere nearby which is transmitting at ultra high frequencies (around 100MHz or higher). Ultra high frequency microwaves have wavelengths which are extremely small -- small enough to get through the tiny gaps along the edges of the metal housing which surrounds X50's laser detection circuitry and cause a laser false. This is also why many radar detectors generate laser falses around airports.

Again, this is just a theory but it makes sense to me.
