This van is pretty noisy, I can't imagine anyone having a car this bad.

^ I'd wager to say that you (luckily) haven't endured time as a passenger in many of today's Fast & Furious fart-can equipped "Ricer" cars.

In all seriousness, I agree - commercial vehicles have their own degree of noise that's often hard to equate to anything else.

Volume is certainly a matter of personal perception, its more likely a problem with my own hearing since other people aren't complaining about volume issues. Guess I just don't want to face the fact that I'm 40 years old now and my hearing is going with old age. Years of loud music and still racing motocross has likely had its toll on my hearing. I can hear the alerts, just would like them to be a few decibels higher, I can't hear any distinction though between the different alert tones other than laser, maybe its my hearing, maybe its just a matter of more time getting tuned into it?

No, no. Not at all - I do think that you more than likely have a very valid concern. There's got to be some reason, aside from the organic (which still very well may be a possibility as the root-cause), that's making this such a difficult issue for you.

The work van has been on hold though because the headliner seems to be glued in so running the wires up and over are going to take some type of ugly engineering that I haven't given enough thought to yet. I don't want to pull the headliner and reglue it because this seems to always lead to the headliner eventually falling down on me while driving which would drive me nuts. I'll probably just end up using silicone caulk on the wires at the top of the windshield where it meets the headliner, its a work van so looks aren't that big of a deal.

As far as the external speaker though goes, maybe I just don't want to face I'm getting that old yet, I still feel like I'm 26 and pass for 26 to the ladies all the time, but I'm not liking the idea of an external speaker.

Nah, just think of it as one more way to get intimate with that sexy voice you like so much. :P

I tried running with POP enabled for the past two days.

Very strange.

It seems, first and foremost, that the 9500i is *MUCH* better at filtering out the awful (and for me, impossibly frequent) Cobra-induced POP falses. I didn't receive even one such false over the course of this rather short test period, and I'll continue to test to this effect over the course of at least the next few weeks.

What's rather more interesting, though, was that as a near-new Mercedes M-class sliced-in in front of me today (this was in traffic, and to his credit, he did signal - so I considered it a "no-foul"), I got a POP, then full-strength K-band, false.

I don't know too much about the M-class SUVs, but I wonder if this model is equipped with some kind of radar-based blind-spot assist device or even pre-crash safety device, and our proximity, combined with this driver's actions, somehow caused its momentary activation - which led to the false warning on my POP-enabled 9500i ?

However inaccurate some perceive the video to be it gives you the general idea and its reason for it, even though it’s not spot on.
It’s amazing to see how the 9500I has really taken off and how Escort is actually doing a reasonable job at listening to there customers and implementing corrections.
I’m actually glad they did it because I asked them to do it over 3 moths ago and it will help non RD enthusiasts understand what there thought process is. Not evryone is like us.
