I have 30 days to return the 8500 X50 to Best Buy if I decide to upgrade to the 9500i, so I'll keep that in mind!
Except BB charges a restocking fee for open radars.

Yea I just noticed that. The 9500i is about $100 or so more anyway, so I probably won't upgrade. I think I'll be happy with the X50.

The X50 is probably the best RD ever made for someone’s 1st RD. 8)

You actually have 14 days, some electronics including radar detectors are only 14 days, read the back of your receipt.
If you tell them you dont like it, you will get stuck with the 15% restocking fee, if you tell them it doesn't work you will get away with the fee.
Watch out, if you dont return it within 14 days they can refuse to take it back.

Just got home with it. I threw her on the windshield on my way home and it picked up a trooper that was hiding in the median, I was pretty excited lol.

Now I need to get the hard wiring kit.

Thanks again for the advice guys.

Agreeing with all the others here. The X50 is indeed one of the best detectors one can buy and for its price delivers consistent and superb performance and features across the board.

One funny thing that happened as well, I went through a toll booth and the detector went nuts throwing a LASER alarm, kind of startled me

Thats a good deal, especially if its only a couple of years old. you might want to send it in to be updated/fixed if hes had it for a while. Keep in mind it will cost you $60-80, so in the end you will be paying $210-230 and you could get a new one for about $270-80.
